Seafood Linguine

Small Razor Shell and Cockle

I become quite nostalgic when I think of seafood in Italy.  I think that seafood is one of those typical foods you crave when you go somewhere exotic.
In Venice, the best way to get around is by boat (this would seem logical as the island is made up of 150 canals.)  For this reason, many Venetians own boats and on sunny days go out fishing or go out to get fresh seafood.

Amour for Courgette and Mint Soup

I watched the film 'Amour' last night.  I watched it on my own, in bed, wrapped up in my duvet.  Half way through the film I realised that this was not the best way to watch the film.  Let me explain to you why.

The film is about an elderly couple, not a hot young love story with lots of sex as assumed by my house mate as he winked 'oh hey,' in a creepy voice (God knows what he thought the film was about).  In fact, the elderly lady in 'Amour' spends a lot of her time in bed wrapped up in her cover (I don't want to ruin the story for you) whilst her husband looks after her.  After an hour of the film and being wrapped up in the same position, I started to believe that I was her.

Imagine the situation:  a 23 year old girl believing she is a 90 year old one, who is passing all her days feeling unwell.  Of course, all she would want to eat is this courgette and mint soup.  It is the cure to all hardship.

Succulent chicken thighs with lemon, soy and thyme

I hate being alone.  Yet, the very worst thing about being alone is eating alone. The idea of cooking for one brings such sadness to my face that I sit on google and ask him/her a variety of different questions until I make myself a massive hot chocolate and eat a hundred gram chocolate bar to myself.  Today, with no one being home I knew the dreaded moment was to happen when I left the library on a sunday evening to eat alone...

"Wait a second, you bought boneless chicken thighs this morning," my conscious thought reminded me which made my culinary imagination run wild.

I remembered a delicious chicken dish my mum had made last time I was home so I decided to give her a quick ring to see if this could be adapted to chicken thighs.  After the phone call, I found out that it could.
